The Mobile Tactical Battlefield Recharger (MTBR) delivers an innovative hybrid power generation solution designed to support the United States Army Climate Strategy goal to “field purpose-built hybrid-drive tactical vehicles by 2035 and fully electric tactical vehicles by 2050.” The MTBR enables tactical operations by providing mobile charging capabilities for hybrid and electric military vehicles, offering a critical advantage in modern and future battlefield environments.
Enercon has extensive experience with military specifications for tactical power systems, including successful packaging for programs like the Missile Defense Agency’s AN/TPY-2 Radar Prime Power Unit (PPU).
As the Army advances the development of hybrid and fully electric tactical vehicles, the need for a reliable, mobile recharging solution becomes essential. The MTBR addresses this need, providing electric power distribution that enables maneuver forces to maintain operational momentum while sustaining both mobile and stationary support operations.
By augmenting traditional fossil fuel usage with electric power, the MTBR enhances fuel efficiency, extends operational reach, and reduces the logistical burden of moving and protecting JP8 fuel supplies in the field. Heavy dependence on fuel-powered generators creates logistical vulnerabilities, increases operational costs, and raises environmental concerns.
To achieve the Army’s climate and operational goals, a tactical field charging capability—such as the MTBR—must evolve in parallel with the Army’s pursuit of hybrid and electric tactical fleets.
