What Is the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS)?

The Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) is a mobile air and missile defense system developed to detect, track, and intercept airborne threats including aircraft, drones, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles.


Unlike fixed missile defense installations, MEADS was designed as a highly mobile defense platform that can be deployed and repositioned quickly to protect military forces and critical infrastructure.


The system integrates radar detection, command and control systems, and interceptor missiles to create a flexible air defense capability.

How MEADS Works
